1. What Snoozecard does
Snoozecard helps you manage subscription free trials. It does two things:
- It watches your email inbox for trial signup confirmations and reminds you before your trial ends.
- It issues virtual payment cards that you can use for trial signups. Each virtual card has a spending limit and an expiry date. If a merchant tries to charge you after the card expires, the charge is declined automatically.
Using virtual cards for trials means that even if you forget to cancel, no money leaves your account.
2. How Gmail scanning works
Snoozecard can work without connecting your email. If you choose to connect Google, it helps automatically detect trial confirmations and renewal reminders so you don't have to enter subscriptions manually. Connecting Google is optional.
If you connect your Gmail account, Snoozecard uses the official Gmail API from Google to read incoming emails. This connection uses OAuth 2.0, the standard secure way for apps to access Google services. You approve the connection in your own Google account, and you can revoke access anytime from your Google security settings.
What we ask for
We request read-only access to your Gmail. We cannot send emails on your behalf, delete emails, or modify anything in your account.
How we filter
We use a combination of sender information, email metadata, and message content to identify potential trial confirmations. Emails outside those patterns are not opened.
How often
Snoozecard periodically checks for new matching emails in the background. You can also trigger a manual scan from inside the app.
3. How trial detection uses Claude
When we find an email that looks like a trial signup, we need to understand it. Is this actually a trial? What is the merchant? When does the trial end? What will the user be charged?
We use Claude, an AI model built by Anthropic, to answer these questions. Snoozecard sends only the minimum information needed to determine whether an email contains a subscription trial and extract relevant details such as the merchant name and renewal date.
We do not send your name, email address, or any personal identifiers to Claude.
Anthropic's commercial API terms specify that data sent through the API is not used to train their models.
4. How virtual cards work
A Snoozecard is a real payment card, not a fake number. It has a card number, an expiry date, and a CVV, just like the card in your wallet. Merchants cannot tell the difference between a Snoozecard and a physical card.
Spending limits
Each Snoozecard has a maximum spending amount that you set when you create it. If a merchant tries to charge more than this, the charge is declined.
Expiry dates
You choose when the card expires. Common choices are 7, 30, or 90 days. After the expiry date, no charges can go through, even if the card still has funds available.
Merchant lock
You can optionally lock a card to a single merchant. Once locked, only that merchant can charge the card. Even if another merchant somehow gets your card number, they cannot use it.
Funding
Snoozecards are funded from a source you connect during signup. When a merchant charges a Snoozecard, funds are pulled from your funding source and delivered to the merchant. There is no prepaid balance you need to top up.
5. Our card issuing partner
Snoozecard does not print physical cards or hold any of your money directly. We work with a regulated card issuing partner that provides the underlying infrastructure. Our partner has the required banking licenses, security certifications, and payment network memberships to issue Visa cards that work everywhere.
When you create a Snoozecard, our backend calls our partner's API. They generate the card number, expiry, and CVV, and return them to us to show in your app. Actual money movement happens through their systems, which are audited and regulated the same way any bank's systems are.
6. What data we store
Here is a complete list of the data Snoozecard keeps in our own databases:
- Your email address and authentication token
- Your name, if you signed in with Apple or Google
- Metadata about your Snoozecards: label, amount, expiry date, merchant lock, last 4 digits of the card number
- Metadata about detected trials: merchant name, trial start and end dates, expected charge amount, and the action you took
- Timestamps of when you connected Gmail and when we last scanned it
- Basic device information: device type, operating system version
- Aggregate usage patterns: which screens you visit and when you open the app
7. What we do not store
Just as important as what we store is what we deliberately do not:
- Full card numbers or CVVs. These are held only by our card issuing partner.
- The content, subject lines, sender addresses, or attachments of your Gmail messages. Only the extracted structured fields are saved.
- Your Gmail password or any credentials. We use OAuth tokens instead.
- Location data. Snoozecard does not track where you are.
- Contact lists, photos, calendar, or any other data outside what is described on this page.
- Your funding source details. These are held by our card issuing partner.
8. Third parties we use
Snoozecard is built on the work of others. Here are the services we depend on and what they do:
Google (Gmail API)
Provides read-only access to your inbox. Data flow: our servers send filtered search queries to Google's Gmail API. Google returns matching messages. We process them and discard the raw content.
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Parses trial emails into structured data. Data flow: we send the subject line and first several hundred characters of a candidate trial email. Anthropic returns a structured result. Anthropic does not train on this data.
Card issuing partner
Issues and manages the virtual cards. Data flow: we send them your name, email, and funding source details for identity verification and fraud prevention. They return card numbers, CVVs, and transaction events.
Cloud infrastructure
Snoozecard runs on secure cloud infrastructure hosted by trusted providers. All data at rest is encrypted. The infrastructure providers see only encrypted database contents, not the plaintext.
Sentry
Captures crash logs and errors so we can fix bugs. Sentry receives the type of error, the file and line where it happened, and the user ID of the account that experienced the error. Sentry does not receive your name, email, or any content.
9. Security practices
Snoozecard follows these security practices:
- All network traffic uses HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Session authentication tokens are hashed before they are stored.
- Gmail OAuth tokens will be encrypted at rest when Gmail scanning is enabled.
- Full card numbers are never on our servers. If our database was ever breached, no card numbers would be exposed.
- Access to production systems requires multi-factor authentication.
- Code repositories are monitored for known vulnerabilities in dependencies.
10. Your control over your data
You can do the following at any time from inside the app or by emailing legal@snoozecard.com:
- Disconnect Gmail. This immediately stops all email scanning.
- Close or freeze individual Snoozecards.
- Request a full copy of the data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete specific data.
- Delete your entire account. This removes your personal data within 30 days.
- Change your notification preferences.
11. How we make money
Snoozecard is free during beta. Long-term, our plan is a two-tier model:
- A free tier with a limited number of active Snoozecards, suitable for occasional users.
- A paid tier with unlimited Snoozecards and additional features, priced as a monthly subscription.
We do not sell user data. We do not show ads. We do not take referral commissions from merchants. Our incentives are aligned with yours: the better we protect your money, the more likely you are to pay for the service.
Any changes to this model will be announced at least 30 days in advance, in the app and by email.
